Welcome to the
Appalachian Forest Discovery Center!

Located in the historic Darden Mill in Elkins, the Appalachian Forest Discovery Center invites you to explore the Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area’s rich cultural and forest heritage. Through its engaging exhibits and knowledgeable staff, the Discovery Center acts as a welcome center for the AFNHA where you can get information about other forest heritage sites in the region.

The Discovery Center is ever changing: a new exhibit goes up every year, objects are donated, and interactive elements are added. As we change, we hope to continue to improve and better serve our community and region. So please stop by, see what’s new, and tell us what you think! Or check out our Facebook page for the latest happenings.
